Caring for Your Garments

We’ve crafted our organic cotton yarn to be both durable and easy to care for. While each garment includes specific care instructions, here are some helpful tips to extend the life of your clothes while caring for our planet:

First Wash for Your Baby’s Clothes

Your newborn’s skin is incredibly sensitive. We recommend washing new garments before first use to ensure the softest, most comfortable experience for your little one. A gentle hand wash for the first cleaning helps maintain the perfect fit.

Choose Gentle Detergents

Protect both your baby’s delicate skin and the environment by using mild, hypoallergenic detergents. Skip fabric softeners and harsh chemicals to keep garments in their best condition and prevent skin irritation.

Air Dry with Care

Let your clothes dry naturally to preserve their quality and reduce environmental impact. Air drying prevents fabric wear, maintains shape, reduces wrinkles, and saves energy.

Smart Washing Habits

Run full loads at low temperatures to minimize wear and save energy

* Use gentle spin cycles to protect fabrics and reduce microfiber release

* Turn garments inside out to preserve colors and protect the fabric

* Keep your washing machine clean with occasional empty hot washes

Managing Normal Wear

Small fabric pills can appear on natural fibers like cotton – this is normal and not a quality concern. Reduce pilling by washing garments inside out and remove any pills with a fabric shaver to keep clothes looking fresh.

Giving Clothes New Life

When your child outgrows their Ilailai pieces, consider passing them on. You can donate them locally or return them to us for our recycling program. Quality clothes deserve a second life.

Temperature Guide:

* Regular wash: up to 30°C

* Deep clean when needed: up to 60°C

* Always check the care label for specific instructions
